Terms of Service

Sketch Book Artists

Welcome to Sketch Book Artists, where imagination picks up a pencil and goes wandering.

By accessing this website, requesting services, purchasing artwork, or commissioning illustration work through Sketch Book Artists, you agree to the following Terms of Service. These terms are intended to provide clarity, protect both artist and client, and keep the creative voyage smooth rather than stormy.

1. Services Provided

Sketch Book Artists primarily offers commissioned illustration services, including but not limited to:

  • Custom illustrations

  • Character design

  • Cartoon panels

  • Caricatures

  • Concept art

  • Mural concept design

  • Branding and creative design services

  • Workshop and educational artistic services

  • Additional custom artistic services as requested

Availability of services may vary depending on project scope, scheduling, and creative requirements.

2. Pricing Structure

Standard pricing includes:

  • Design Services: $75.00 USD per hour

  • Cartoon / Caricature Illustration Work: $25.00 USD per panel

All other services, including custom projects, murals, workshops, publishing work, and specialty commissions, may vary in pricing depending on complexity, materials, deadlines, licensing, and scope of work.

Final pricing will be discussed and agreed upon prior to project commencement.

Sketch Book Artists reserves the right to adjust pricing at any time for future services.

3. Deposits and Payment

Most commissioned projects require a non-refundable deposit before work begins.

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • A deposit secures project placement in the production schedule

  • Remaining balances are due prior to final delivery of completed work

  • Rush projects may require additional fees

  • Late payments may delay delivery

Accepted payment methods will be outlined during the commission process.

Failure to complete payment may result in suspension or cancellation of services.

4. Revisions and Approval

Reasonable revisions are included within the agreed project scope.

Excessive revisions, major concept changes after approval, or requests outside the original project agreement may result in additional charges billed at the standard hourly design rate.

Clients are encouraged to provide clear references and direction early in the commission process to avoid unnecessary revision spirals—the artistic equivalent of chasing a squirrel through a hedge maze.

5. Ownership and Usage Rights

Unless otherwise stated in writing:

  • The artist retains original copyright ownership of all artwork created

  • Clients receive usage rights only for the agreed purpose

  • Commercial use, reproduction, resale, licensing, or redistribution requires written permission

  • Sketch Book Artists reserves the right to display completed work in portfolios, social media, publications, and promotional materials unless confidentiality is specifically requested in writing

Final source files, production files, or layered working files are not automatically included unless specifically contracted.

6. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate project information

  • Respond to communication in a timely manner

  • Respect agreed timelines and payment terms

  • Ensure they have legal rights to any reference materials submitted

Sketch Book Artists is not responsible for delays caused by incomplete information or lack of client response.

7. Cancellations and Refunds

Deposits are non-refundable once work has begun.

If a project is canceled by the client after production starts, payment may be required for work completed up to the cancellation date.

If Sketch Book Artists must cancel a project due to unforeseen circumstances, a fair partial refund may be issued depending on project progress.

8. Limitation of Liability

Sketch Book Artists shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of services, artwork, website access, or project delays beyond reasonable control.

Creative work involves interpretation, collaboration, and occasionally coffee-fueled miracles, but not guarantees of universal approval by in-laws, committees, or mysterious Facebook commenters.

9. Changes to Terms

These Terms of Service may be updated periodically without prior notice.

Continued use of the website or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those updated terms.
